Following the marriage of Celia and Robert Leather on Saturday 3 July 2010, a communion service was held in the Sanctuary on Sunday 4 July 2010, which included a blessing of the newly weds. The service was led by Rev Richard Plant, who involved the young people in a Bible story about the widow's mite and explained the Last Supper and it's significance in the communion service in a highly effective and thought-provoking way. The service was attended by member's of St Andrew's congregation, and Celia and Robert's family and friends. Robert's daughter Rachel and one of his grandsons, Gabriel, read the New Testament Bible readings. The St Andrew's Singers sang A Clare Benediction by John Rutter, which is increasingly sung during wedding services. The hymns for the service were chosen by Celia and Robert and included: Great is thy faithfulness; Give me joy in my heart; Blest are the pure in heart; Who is on the Lord's side? and Guide me, O thou great Jehovah. With a large congregation, and everyone in fine voice, most of Worcester city centre must have been able to hear the singing. To begin the service, Bridal March by Guilmant, Serenade by Widor and Salut d'Amore by Elgar were played by the organist. After the final blessing and dismissal, Widor's Toccata from the 5th Symphony was played to great effect on St Andrew's wonderful Nicholson pipe organ. The service was followed by a buffet lunch for Celia and Robert's friends and family and took place on the floor below the Sanctuary in the hall, which was suitably decorated for the occasion. On such a warm sunny day, guests spilled out from the hall onto the balcony and into the lounge. Catering for the event was provided by St Andrew's very own accomplished Catering Group, made up of willing volunteers.
