25th Anniversary of the St. Andrew’s Singers
On 24th June 2012, Royal School of Church Music Sunday, the 25th anniversary of the St Andrew’s Singers (SAS) was celebrated during the morning service – led by Rev Anne Smith. Accompanied by the Music Group, the SAS opened with Come let us join our cheerful songs from ‘Wildfire’, a musical by Roger Jones. Eternal God, words and music by John Rutter, was also sung during the morning’s worship and the service ended with a rousing Now thank we all our God, arranged by John Rutter. The regular congregation were joined by a number of visiting former members of the SAS from far and wide.
A celebratory cold-buffet lunch was arranged – including some delicious desserts made by members of the SAS, which took place after the service in the hall. It was attended by over 80 members of the congregation and the SAS and included an anniversary cake, seen in the photograph being cut by Rev Anne Smith and Bronwen Evans who is the leader of the Singers. Both Anne and Bronwen made short speeches in recognition of the wonderful high-quality contribution the SAS has made to worship and the wider community over the years, and thanked all members for the their dedication and enthusiasm.
St Andrew’s Singers tour the USA 2006
The St. Andrew’s Singers & Music Group have safely returned to Worcester after what can only be described as a ‘fantastic” visit to West Virginia. They performed concerts at five Churches throughout the State, met the State Governor, appeared on television and radio and saw the most beautiful scenery imaginable.
The people were most welcoming at all the venues and the hospitality was wonderful. Each member stayed with five different families and all the hosts were so enthusiastic in their welcome and the accommodation could not have been better. Many friendships have already been made and letters and e-mails are flying across the Atlantic even as you read this.
During the trip both David Bower & Lesley Vine kept diaries, they have already compared notes and David will be producing a special edition of the Newsletter during July, complete with many photographs, so that you can all follow the events of those 7 days in May & June 2006.
The St. Andrew’s Singers & Music Group would like to thank everyone who supported them in so many ways on both sides of the “pond” and thank you all for your prayers and good wishes.
